Working with children is one thing.
Working with the family around them is another.
Supporting practitioners to orient, navigate and work within the relationships that shape children and families.
A child rarely arrives in our practice alone. Their experience is shaped within relationships, family histories, nervous systems, expectations and adaptations โ and practitioners can quickly find themselves navigating much more than the presenting concern.
GROW: Working with Families for Practitioners supports you to make sense of this complexity and feel more resourced and supported in working within it.
We don't work with children in isolation. A child's regulation is shaped โ and reshaped โ within their relationships, especially with parents and caregivers.
This shifts the focus of our work. We are not only supporting the child. We are working with the relationships that organise their experience.
When we include the relationships around the child, new possibilities for change become available.
"We do not meet families at the surface of behaviour. We meet them in the patterns that persist, in the moments where connection is interrupted, and in what has not yet been able to be supported."
This is where parent, child and practitioner come into relationship.
GROW is an integrated body of knowledge and practice that helps practitioners navigate the complexity of working with children and families.
At the heart of GROW is a collaborative way of learning โ one that invites curiosity, reflection and discovery as practitioners explore the work and develop their capacity to orient within the relational field.
This way of learning becomes a way of working. Practitioners bring the same collaborative stance into their work with families, inviting parents and children to participate in making sense of what is happening, noticing what unfolds within and between them, and discovering together what supports change and healing.
The Interconnected Dimensions of Family Work
Understand behaviour in context โ including nervous-system, developmental and relational adaptations โ rather than treating behaviour as an isolated problem.
Support parents to deepen awareness of what is happening for their child and themselves, and how their responses can influence regulation, connection and change.
Notice what is happening within and between family members, the patterns that repeat, and the wider context that may be organising the family's experience.
Develop capacity to notice what is happening in the field and in yourself, remain present within complexity, and discern where to orient without becoming organised by the family's activation.
Invite parents and children into the process of understanding what is happening so they can become active participants in change, connection and healing.
This Training is for Practitioners Whoโฆ
- Work with children, parents or families and want a clearer way to navigate the complexity that can emerge when the wider family system enters the work.
- Want to move beyond the presenting behaviour and understand what may be happening within and between family members.
- Want to deepen their capacity to orient within the relational field and discern where their attention may be most useful.
- Value collaborative work that invites parents and children to become active participants in understanding, change and healing.
- Want to feel more resourced and supported in complex family work, rather than having to hold and navigate it alone.
- Want an integrated body of knowledge and practice that can deepen and extend the way they already work.

GROW in practice. GROW is supported by a growing collection of clinical and family resources that help practitioners translate this understanding into practice โ from preparing for and orienting to the family before the work begins, through to supporting regulation, connection, relational awareness and change as the work unfolds.
GROW expands your capacity to make sense of complexity, discern what is happening, know where to orient, and respond to what is emerging within the family in ways that support regulation, connection and healing.
More than increasing what you know, GROW can change how you experience yourself in the work โ helping you feel more resourced and less alone when holding complexity, and supporting a more sustainable way of practising.
The longer-term integration program develops this further through repeated reflection, case application and practice, allowing an internal relational compass to develop over time.
For practitioners wanting to deepen the work, the 10-month program provides ongoing collaborative learning, reflection, case exploration and integration. The aim is for the work to become increasingly embodied and internalised rather than remaining something the practitioner has to consciously 'apply'.
